For Immediate Release:

USED BOOK SALES AT THE MERCER COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY

The Mercer County Historical Society will be holding a Used Book Sale twice in May. The first sale will be from 9-3 on Saturday, May 17, as part of Mercer’s community-wide yard sale. The second sale will be on Memorial Day, May 26, from 9-3. This will coincide with the Memorial Day 500 Parade and associated events. Both sales will be held in the front yard of the MCHS headquarters at 119 South Pitt Street, Mercer. In case of inclement weather, the sale will be moved to the MCHS lobby.

For over two years MCHS’s Book Committee has been culling the society’s collection of books and periodically holding sales. Books for sale are primarily of a historical nature that have been donated to MCHS and that  are duplicates of material already in the library, do not pertain directly to Mercer County history, or that we no longer have room for.

The MCHS headquarters (museum and genealogical library) will be open regular Saturday hours, 10 a.m. until 3 p.m., during the May 17 sale, and special hours, 10 a.m.-1 p.m., on Memorial Day. The museums of the Mercer County Historical Society are open to the public and free.  Donations are greatly appreciated. For further information, please call the Historical Society at 724-662-3490.
